I am a crafter. My husband and I have been married for over seven years, and we haven’t been able to have babies. Somewhere along the way, I started filling my time with hobby after hobby after hobby. My office and craft room is now chock-full of bits and bobs, so needless to say, I know a thing or two about starting a new craft!

I get so much joy from making something with my hands, and gifting personalized things is pretty much my favorite. So let’s talk about my top cozy crafting hobbies for book lovers!

Fall Craft Ideas

1. Embroidery

We ALL have our favorite books, and embroidery is such an inexpensive, simple way to bring them to life. You can come up with your own designs or use a pattern if you’d rather have a little guidance. All you really need is a needle, thread, a hoop, and something to transfer your design with, like embroidery stickers or a washable fabric pencil.

You can find our simple embroidery tutorials here, or start with our beginner embroidery post here. We also carry full kits and embroidery patch stickers inspired by your favorite classics!

2. Diamond painting Book Covers

If you enjoy tedious projects this my friends is the one for you, I Again it’s low cost and easy to do. You simply purchase a diamonds in the colors you want, then you get the applicator and glue! I love that we are to the point we can bedazzle just about ANYTHING! haha it’s the best!

3. Bracelet Making

LOVE this one. Pretty much everyone I know is up for a bracelet-making night! I like to base each set on a book: colors from the cover, a character’s personality, or words that remind me of the story. It’s fun to see how differently everyone interprets the same book. Hobby Lobby seems to have beads on sale ALL THE TIME, so that’s a great place to start looking.

4. Book Brick Painting

This one is on my list for our landscaping next summer! Pick a few favorite books, paint their covers or spines onto bricks, and use them to border a garden bed. Imagine walking past a little row of your favorite stories every time you go outside!

5. Cricut Vinyl Projects

This was one of the first crafts I got into. The machine is more of an investment than the other ideas on this list, but I don’t regret buying mine one bit. You can cut book quotes, designs inspired by your favorite covers, or whatever else you dream up. With adhesive vinyl and heat-transfer vinyl, you can decorate so many different things!

I especially love making a tote bag for a friend with a quote from their favorite book, then adding a cute keychain made with beads from my collection.

Bonus: Bookbinding

This one can get pricey too, but it is SOOO MUCH FUN! I’ve rebound a few of my favorite books, and I even bound a copy of the poetry book my sister wrote and published to give to her. I’m still a novice, but if you’re interested, let me know and I’ll share a post about how I do it!

I hope one of these gives you a fun, doable project to try this fall. Pick a favorite book, gather a few supplies, and see what you can make from the story you love.
